The medical spa industry is growing at an incredible rate. This is due to the improved technology that provides people with less painful and more convenient methods of improving their outward appearance and staying younger. How do you join this growing field and cash in on the benefits? Anyone can do it, they must simply do the proper research and planning that is required for any business to succeed.

When considering opening a medical spa, it is important to first, do some demographic and marketing research. This kind of study will help determine what services you should provide and whether a medical spa would flourish in your area. What is the social economic status of the community?

Medical spa treatments are generally completely elective and aesthetic and not covered by insurance, thus medical spas only really thrive in affluent neighborhoods where there is enough disposable income to go around.

Also look at the age of the community: is it an older and more mature crowd or a younger population. If the population is older and more established they may be able to afford a wider variety of procedures and may be interested in more anti-aging services such as Botox injections, microdermabrasion and skin tightening treatments to fight wrinkles and give a youthful appearance.

If the market is young than services such as tattoo and laser hair removal may be very popular. Whatever the demographics are, try to tailor your services to their needs and interests. If you are serious about opening a spa, it may be wise to hire a marketing firm to conduct this demographic research and consult with you on how to make your business a successful one. There are also consulting firms trained specifically to aid medical spas get started and continue growing.

More research will need to be done that pertains particularly to the spa industry. All medical-spas must be under the supervision of a qualified medical professional but how that is actually practiced varies from state to state.

Some states require the physician to be onsite at all times doing consultations and administering the actual procedures. Other states allow a medical professional to merely lend their name and accept responsibility for the practice without even being on the premises.

These doctors delegate the services to other authorized medical technicians. If you are a licensed doctor or plastic surgeon, this is a great opportunity to expand your practice and increase your earnings. Many plastic surgeons open small medical-spas adjacent to their current practice to service the men and women interested in improving their physical appearance.

Make sure to do your research before buying equipment and machinery. You will want the latest and least painful technology for a reasonable price. The state also regulates what technology and equipment is used so it is important to check state requirements before you invest in the very expensive equipment and machinery.

When choosing your facility and location remember that spas are meant to be relaxing and luxurious so it is important to create a space that exudes prestige and professionalism. Once designed and set up it is crucial that the facility remains clean well maintained.

The next step in setting up your spa includes hiring a competent and skilled staff. Make sure they are all properly trained, because it adequate training will yield more positive treatment results and few injuries. In addition to being properly trained, employees need to be friendly and understand that the customer service aspect is central to the mission of the practice.

Patients come to the spa to be pampered and treated in a safe, relaxing, and welcoming environment and every staff member is responsible for and contributes to this atmosphere. With the proper research, licensed and trained doctors and staff, an elegant facility, and new technology, your medical spa is sure to succeed.

The tremendous boom experienced by the healthcare industry in the last decade has given a spurt in demand within the allied industries as well, the medical billing sector being one of the biggest beneficiaries.

Medical billing is essentially the process of procuring payment from the insurance providers as well as the patients for the purpose of compensating physicians for the medical services they have performed. To achieve success in this technically driven business, it is important that the entrepreneur does the initial spadework and makes a concrete plan regarding how to start your own medical billing business.

Knowledge and expertise

If you are still an amateur in the field of medical billing, you will need proper training and knowledge on two main aspects of this business, which is one of the more profitable small business options because it has a fairly small investment requirement. The two aspects of training are the capability of understanding technical terminology and establishing contacts for the purpose of networking.

The easiest way to gain the required expertise is to enroll in medical coding and billing classes. Such a course will effectively prepare you for a business in medical billing and counting, apart from touching upon various other important aspects, which will include:

1.	Medical terminology

2.	Anatomy

3.	Insurance forms and related procedures

4.	Coding systems

5.	National diagnostic and procedural systems

6.	Procedures for handling denied claims

7.	Billing computer software

8.	Soft collection techniques

9.	Providing medical billing service

10. CPT codes

It also helps to keep abreast with changes within the industry and attend the seminars or workshops imparting training regarding any innovations in the field.

Equipment required

When considering how to start a medical billing and coding business, the next most important thing you will need to decide on is the equipment you might require for the purpose. The most important equipment required for this particular business includes:

1.	A computer

2.	High speed internet connection

3.	Printer

4.	Medical billing software

5.	CPT coding manual

Medical billing business logistics

After you have gained the essential expertise, work out the basics of infrastructure and other logistics related to your medical billing business. The most important aspects could include:

1.	Physical location of your business

2.	Terms and conditions of service

3.	Outline of the initial investment required

4.	Nature and quantity of team members required

5.	Range of services offered

Marketing your services

Once you have all the essential equipment in place and have gained the essential expertise, it is time that you build an effective marketing strategy to create adequate awareness about your services. Especially in the startup stage, it is advisable to create awareness by sending direct mailers to doctors, cold calling, and most importantly, networking in the medical billing community. In fact, it is also recommended to start marketing for your services from your personal physician’s office to begin with, which might give you an additional head start.

Getting a license

In case you are thinking of how to start a medical billing business from home, make sure you obtain the essential business license required to operate a home-based business. You might also need to be affiliated to certain centralized bodies and associations that are relevant to the industry of medical billing.

Conclusion

Sound knowledge and expertise in the technical aspects of the business of medical billing and counting is the cornerstone of success in this industry. Before you actually step into this kind of a venture, make sure you have gained all the essential knowledge and expertise in this field, along with fulfilling the basic licensing criteria.

Starting a magazine is not as hard as you would think. I have started several myself and successfully published them for years. Make no mistake, it is hard work, but if you can meet a few key requirements you can get your magazine off the ground.

What are those few key requirements?

1) You need some money to do this – Every business start up needs some capital and magazines are no different. How much do you need? As little as a few hundred dollars will work (not including your printing costs) to get your first issue on the streets and/or news stands. For a projected higher end book, you will need thousands of dollars dependent on what market you are entering and how big you are going right off the bat. The key will be to learn the skills you need to publish and do the tasks yourself rather than hire an office full of workers and payroll (I will hit on those skills in a minute and talk more about cash in a minute).

2) Equipment – At least one good computer capable of operating the various software you will need (Adobe InDesign and at least Adobe Photoshop), a good digital SLR camera like the Nikon D50 which runs about $750, a phone and a dependable vehicle.

3) The ability to sell – Magazines big and small run off of advertisements and yours will be no different. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a solid sales strategy in place before you take on this project. I will talk more about selling further along.

4) Creativity – You can’t survive without offering something new to your readers in an attractive package and for this being creative is a necessity.

Step #1 – Develop the Framework

You probably have an idea of what type of magazine you want to publish but from here you need to construct some basic framework. Pick a name for your magazine carefully, make sure you are not stepping on anyone’s trademark by searching the US trademark database.

Your website’s domain name is also something to consider when choosing your name. Search for open domains that match your magazine’s name as closely as possible. It is okay to use a few sudo-odd takes on domains for magazines like magazinenameonline.com or magazine-name.com. Register your domain and contact a web development company that you like to start work on your magazine’s new website. I personally like 22 Creative as they specialize in websites for magazines. Your website does not need to be awesome right out of the gate, just something professional that is clear about who you are and what your book is about – expect to spend anywhere from a few hundred dollars to thousands here. A website is an essential part of this process though, do not skip out on this one.

Okay, you have a name and a website, what’s next? Figure out what you are going to include in your first issue by writing out an editorial outline. Fancy name but in reality, just write out what you want to feature, how many pages you want to devote to each item and how many pages for ads you want to stash away (this will be dependent on how many ads you sell for your first issue). How many pages should your magazine be? Two factors are in play here. One is the cost of printing the magazine as it costs more to print a bigger magazine obviously, the second is how much editorial can or do you want to produce? You do not need a 100 page book your first go around so, dependent on what your competitors are doing, aim for around 50 pages for a local or lifestyle magazine and 90+ for a magazine you want to distribute on national news stands.

Step #2 – It’s Time to Produce Content

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need an army of ‘journalists’ to publish your first issue. I have produced content for hundreds of magazines by myself or with the help of just a handful of people, it is not that hard.

Start with item number one on your editorial outline. Write your text first, making sure to follow basic guidelines for writing editorial (Google search it for tons of help). Have friends read the copy and get their honest opinion. Did you lose your readers attention at any point? Are your facts correct? Do you have any typos?

A picture is worth a thousand words literally. People like pictures, big, colorful pictures and lots of them. Decide on how many pictures you need for the piece and whether or not you can take the photos yourself or if you need to buy them/license them from a stock photo service. If you can take them yourself, head out and start snapping. Take clear, in-focus images and take lots of them. You do not want to have to go back and re-shoot anything because you did not get the shot. Also, set your camera to take 300dpi images, normal smaller resolution images will not work and will look pixilated in the final product – nothing comes off as more rookie than low-res photos in magazines. Remember if you have any people in your photos, get them to sign a ‘model release’ allowing you to use their image in your publication. If you need to buy an image from a stock photo website, make sure you buy a 300dpi image that is suitable for printing. Expect to pay anywhere from $3 – $10 for each photo, if you encounter a website that charges more, you would be over paying.

After you have knocked your editorial out, sleep on it and go over it yourself. Is it good? How many magazines have you seen that all regurgitate the same tired ‘electronics features’ of iPhones and some silly whatever that not many people care about? Lots. You have to have a new take on things if you want to see issue number 2, 3, 54, etc.

Step #3 – Start Selling Ads Yesterday

New publishers often fall into the trap of just focusing on the creative side of the magazine and not the sales. As an independent publisher, you have to wear both hats. Start by putting together a media kit for your new magazine. A media kit is a couple pages, printed out that act as a resume for your magazine featuring all of the details of who your magazine is for, how many you print, your distribution tactics, what ads you offer and how much they cost, etc. In the beginning most of your sales will not be because of your media kit, this is just an essential thing to have to leave with prospective advertisers. I could go on and on about how to sell ads for new magazines but if you read it, you would have to send me a pretty big check as that is closely held information by all in the industry. What I can tell you is start with a plan; call on advertisers that make sense for your magazine. It is a waste of time to try and sell an ad to Budweiser if you are a new magazine that is about quilting – it’s just not going to happen. Put yourself in that business owners shoes, would you consider it?

Now is not the time to get rich quick. You want to sell ads to pay the bills and hopefully recoup your investment and live. That means price your ad offerings in reality. For an idea of what reality is, try and find out what similar magazines in your market are charging. Do not go to low on your pricing however, believe in the value of your magazine – giving it away free almost guarantees future failure. I know of one magazine that just kept throwing money at itself, starting in new markets without first being profitable in one and to appear successful, they gave away their ad space. A couple years later and it is common knowledge in the media buying industry that no one pays for ads in that magazine ever. If a potential advertiser says they want it for less than you want to sell it for, pass on them politely and come back to them in a few months after you can prove a stronger value to justify your rate card.

Most importantly, offer value to your advertisers. There are a gazillion different ways to do this but it all starts with you delivering a strong, readable publication on time. The old under-promise and over-deliver adage works well here.

Step #4 – Layout Time

It’s crunch time. Layout is hardly ever pleasurable, my first issue I ever designed took me about 72 hours of work with about 6 hours of sleep in that period – not exactly what I call an awesome good time. Make sure you know how to use your software BEFORE you need to start laying out your pub. Pretty much the whole free world uses Adobe InDesign to layout their magazines. It is a reliable and easy to use program that will run you about $650 unless you can find a deal. You should seriously consider purchasing one of Adobe’s Creative Suites that bundles InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Those three programs will take you anywhere you want to go in publishing as I have been relying on them for years. Yes that is some expensive software but is essential and well worth the money if you are serious about doing this right.

If you flip through a random magazine here and there, you will notice that a lot of them have an inconsistent layout throughout the book, meaning that the fonts and styles change every few pages or every story. If this appeals to you knock yourself out, just know that it is not a good practice to follow. You need to aim for a balanced flow with your layouts. The first page of content should be very close to the last page and not stray too far in between. Use a text font at or above 8 points and never smaller. Don’t forget those pictures, lots and lots of pictures. Learn to use Photoshop to clean your photos up. I have spent at least 60 seconds with every photo I have ever placed in a magazine layout – it is a crime to run photos with zero post work done on them, just a straight up crime.

I won’t go into an InDesign tutorial, plenty of people have done that better than I can before.

What you need to ultimately do is end up with a PDF file for each page of your magazine that you will give to your printer. Name each file a standard p01_NAME.pdf. Covers will be labeled C1, C2, etc. You will have the option to view proofs of your files before your printer fires up the press to start your job (a big chunk of what you are paying them to do). Always look at every proof of every page; once it gets put on a plate and starts laying down ink, you are locked in.

Make sure you are happy with your printer. If you do not have a printer to print your job, start by talking to Las Vegas Printing to get a quote on your job. I recommend getting your finished magazines carton packed rather than skid packed and wrapped in plastic as this practice guarantees a percentage of waste due to not protecting the magazines on the outside of the skid.

Step #5 – Distribution Time

If you are starting a magazine that will have National or a large ranging distribution, head straight to one of the two major magazine distributors. I won’t name them because they, in my opinion, make it very difficult for start ups to get in the game. I will leave it at that.

If you are starting a locally distributed magazine, read on. Yes there are services that offer to distribute your magazine for you, they will do a poor job and charge you and arm and a leg for the privilege. Distribution is paramount. If no one sees, picks up or reads your magazine then it is just a waste of time, money and trees. A major part of your focus should be dialing in the best distribution strategy possible. Do not just toss magazines in front of stores, bars, etc. and expect them to take the time to place them out in a neat fashion – they will end up in the dumpster out back. Do your own distribution. Personally ask permission from each distribution spot, not only is this the right thing to do but it is a great way to get your name out there and meet a few potential advertisers.

Step #6 – Do it again, and again and again

The process never stops in the magazine game, it is a fight at all times. There will always be strong competition, new people looking for their share of a market and times where you feel like you are the only person that reads your magazine. But if you do not fight at all, it’s a guarantee that you will not win. Good luck!

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur? Are you already in business for yourself, but are looking for a relatively inexpensive area in which to expand? Do you want to start a home based business that you can do without quitting your regular job?

If any of these cases apply to you – and you have an interest in the media industry – then read on. Here are 10 media related businesses that you can start for less than $10,000.

1. A Barter Publication

Everybody has stuff that they would like to get rid of. And everybody likes cheap stuff. You can bring these people together by starting a barter publication in your community. Revenue can be earned through subscriptions or advertising space sales.

2. Brochure Design

Every business needs good business brochures. If you have a knack for designing things, you can help businesses in your area by designing their brochure printing. Many small businesspeople are afraid to try doing this on their own, and would be more than willing to let you design their brochure printing (and pay you for it, too).

3. Copywriting

A copywriter is basically a freelance writer who writes for a variety of different businesses. Jobs would include sales copy, newsletters, articles, and many other things. It’s easy to get started as a copywriter: just search for “freelance writing” jobs.

4. Graphic Design

This is a popular entrepreneurial idea. You may be surprised to learn, however, that it is not very expensive to start up as a graphic designer. It just takes a bit of leg work to get your name and talent out there. Once you get established, though, it will go much more smoothly.

5. How-to Books

Yes, you can write books for a living, and you do not even have to deal with grouchy editors who constantly reject your work. How? By writing eBooks, which are just books in electronic format. Write about how to do something, and sell it electronically.

6. Write Jingles

If you are a music wiz, this one is for you. You can write the “jingles” for radio and TV commercials, and perhaps even TV shows.

7. Press Release Writing

While this could fall under the “copywriter” category, you could actually make a decent living writing nothing but press releases. Thousands of new businesses start up every year, and they all need good press releases to let the public know about them.

8. Restaurant Menus

If you love food, and graphic design is a talent that you possess, you can make money by designing menus for restaurants in your area. Simply ask the manager if he needs (or wants) a new menu designed.

9. Greeting Cards

You can produce your own line of greeting cards and turn a nice profit. Of course, you have to have a way with words, and you have to be at design. If you can do both, try your hand at writing and designing specialty greeting cards.

10. Transcripts

You would be amazed at how many transcripts need to be written. Everything from radio shows to commercials to TV shows need transcripts written for them. Get in on the action by offering to write them up for a fee.

There are many social networking sites on the web these days, including the most well-known sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Social networking sites are places where people come together for a variety of purposes and intents. Much the same way as in networking clubs or organizations in the real world, networking sites online provide a wide array of ways to gather for business or fun.

To start a business based on social networking you have to have a product or a service and shared goals regarding making money. Of course, you can create your own social networking site that has a specific niche and that reaches out to a group in new ways, but if you want to create a business where everyone is in business with you then everyone has to be able to make money – for that you will need a product, a distribution system and a compensation plan. Here are some tips that may help you.

If you have created your own product then you may want to start small and begin to sell it through your close circle of friends and family. From there you can branch out and begin to network within the spheres of influence each of your close friends has established. You can then begin to network online by building relationships through such sites like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Many people online are looking to start their own businesses so you can cultivate that niche audience to find people who want to join you in business. Remember, though, you will have to have created a compensation plan and a way for your products to be delivered to your customers.

If you want to bypass this aspect of building a social networking business you can tie in with several companies, often called hybrid or network marketing companies who already rely solely on networking to market their products. There are some very good ones out there that offer excellent compensation plans and easy delivery of their products through online orders. All you have to do is to market their products for them. How to do it? You can combine old-fashioned tried and true networking from person-to-person to get started, and simultaneously promote your products and business by advertising absolutely for free online by uploading videos to YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, Google video, Yahoo and a slew of other social media sites. You can also write articles like this one in exchange for a valuable link back to your business website. By driving tons of traffic to your site you will be able to increase sales and to build an organization of like-minded entrepreneurs with a business volume and profits that would be envied by any large company. Do your homework, take action, and get started now. You can do it!

What’s the best way to start a business online? Well, that would depend on the entrepreneur-to-be’s capabilities- can he launch a full blown company on the internet or more of a passive, extra income sort of deal? For most people, transitioning from their routine nine to five to internet marketing happens over a long period of time, and one good way to start the transition is going for social media marketing.

Let’s face it, among all the numerous social networking sites out there, each and everyone of us is bound to have at least one with the more popular ones: facebook, twitter, multiply, splurk, you name it. And you keep your profiles updated anyways, so why not use them to start a business online? Just post some paid advertisements on your profiles and engage in Pay-Per-Click or PPC, so that just the effort of increasing web traffic on your affiliate’s web site earns you some. Of course, you can’t expect to earn a whole lot from PPC ads that make a few cents per click, but if you multiply that by all the ads in all your profiles in numerous social networking sites-not to mention the numbers of people that visit your page or profile-you’re bound to get tens of dollars a day.

You can then start a business online after you’ve gotten enough out of this sort of passive income through social media PPC ads. You’re also bound to pick up some marketing tips and tricks while you were doing social media PPC-tactics and strategies you can then apply to your upcoming business.

An anxious client asked us if he would get a new job soon
and if he was destined to be out of work for a while. He
wanted to know when he would find a great new job. We
told him the following and it will give you an idea of the
mechanics of predictive work, along with some insight
about handwriting analysis.

We can’t tell you the exact hour you will accept a good job
offer, but we can tell you when things are more in your favor.
Knowing when your timing is challenging or rewarding in
relation to obtaining a new job gives you heightened
perspective, as well as an edge in your job search.

The numerology and astrology timing charts don’t make
things happen, but they do represent what is predestined;
the types of circumstances, events, challenges and rewards
that your soul sets up for your earthly personality.

Your timing for career and money success gets much better
in the near future, so it looks as if you are destined to have a
decent job. Six to eight months from now you’ll likely be
securely employed. Just remember that it’s important to
consistently take action (exercise free will) to manifest this
strong probability; do what you have to do to get where you’d
like to be.

Despite your numerology and astrology timing in most of the
first quarter of the year being very challenging for acquiring a
new job, you’ve already experienced the most trying energy
and your career aspects throughout the rest of the year steadily
improve. The best months for your career this year are July
and September. In fact, we see dynamite career and money
aspects for you in late summer of this year. Now, even if you
knew nothing of your timing charts, you would have still
encountered the same challenging energy during the first
quarter and more rewarding energy during the rest of the
year- that’s just “what is.” Being centered, detached and
tapping into your intuition will help confirm the energy
represented in your timing charts.

Based on the birth data you provided, it looks as if you were
destined to experience a period without steady employment.
There are reasons for everything; maybe this seemingly
unfortunate period allowed you to more greatly value being
employed, or perhaps you were supposed to focus on a
different part of your life for a while. A change of career
direction at this time looks to be part of your earthly plan
as well. Meditate on the reasons for your current circumstances
until you receive answers that feel right. The tools we offer on
our web site can further assist you in getting your own answers.

Based on the handwriting sample you submitted (using the
science of graphology and covering only some of your more
relevant personality traits), you’re understandably fearful of
the future, somewhat anxious, and currently frustrated about
material interests.

It would also help you to know this about your subconscious
personality: you’re not entirely comfortable with accepting
abundance in your life. In other words, you sometimes
(subconsciously) block yourself from acquiring money
and material things. Although you consciously want more
money in your life, your subconscious is consistently
saying, “…I’ll pass, I don’t deserve it.”

It would be wise to get in touch with this energy in order to
open the door to more prosperity in your life. Simply knowing
about it is a great start. Searching for clues about the root cause
in meditation and past life regression could help resolve the
issue.

On the positive side, your handwriting indicates remarkable
stamina, determination and powerful analytical abilities, which
will help you accomplish your career goals.

Collectors of charm bracelets know the special meaning and fascination that is so unique to this piece of jewelry. These bracelets are available in a wide range of styles and they are fashioned from several different metals. The collections include silver, titanium, white and yellow Gold Charms in various styles, shapes and forms.

A charm bracelet tells your personal story with a collection of specially selected charms that are designed into any order onto your bracelet. Yellow gold is the metal of royalty and speaks of riches. It has a warm and rich coloring, which compliments any collection and wardrobe.

Whether you collect charms, or buying for someone else who collects, you are bound to find fascinating pieces to suit every interest, hobby, special memory or occasion. Categories include symbols, family, love, travel, pets, animals, food and beverages, profession, music, special occasions, sport, numbers, initials and astrology.

If you love traveling, you will love to add tiny golden maps or symbols of the special places that you visited. This is also great for gift giving. Your special memories will never be far away. Should the bracelet be given as a gift, be sure to add a disc with your name and a special message so that the special receiver will always know how much they mean to you.

Wearers that are spiritual will enjoy pieces that are based on astrology. Moons, stars, planetary, zodiac and other symbols are set in white or yellow gold to take you on a celestial journey. In this range you can also find pendants where birth stones are set in gold frames, as well as zodiac signs and numbers.

The Gold Charms on the bracelet could be tailored to the personality of the wearer. Select pieces that match their interests, hobbies or their profession. This makes for easy future gift giving and a great heirloom.
